Train in a paced, embodied way — with supportive mentorship, monthly supervision, and a clear pathway to TRE® Provider certification.

Train with Haley

Haley mentors trainees through each step of the Provider Process, with a focus on embodied learning, safety, containment, and clarity in practice.

About TRE® & Our Approach

TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) is a body-led method that invites gentle, natural shaking — the tremor mechanism — to help release stored tension. When practiced with grounding and self-regulation, tremors can support the nervous system to settle and build resilience over time.

Our training emphasises embodiment — learning by experience, not just theory. You’ll develop a felt sense of safety, pacing, and containment in your own practice first, then learn to guide others ethically and within scope.

Overview

Structure: Training consists of two 3-day modules (Module 1 & 2) and a 3-day Module 3, with monthly supervision days in between. Most trainees complete the pathway in 8 months to 2 years, depending on supervision cadence and prior experience.

Start here: Module 1 is open to everyone. From here you can continue into the TRE® Provider Process — a guided journey to certification, supported by supervision and practice.

What you’ll gain: An embodied understanding of the neurophysiology and anatomy of stress and trauma; the ability to hold a safe, contained space; and practical skills to work with individuals and small groups using TRE® tools and principles.

1

Module 1 — Meet your tremor mechanism

Connect with natural release through tremoring. Explore grounding, self-regulation, orienting, and your window of tolerance. Open to everyone.

2

Module 2 — Teaching individuals

One-to-one facilitation: session flow, pacing, consent, safety plans, contra-indications, and adapting TRE® for diverse bodies and stages.

3

Module 3 — Groups & community

Facilitating small groups: contracting, demonstration with assistants, co-regulation, spotting overwhelm, and closing grounded sessions.

Supervision rhythm

Between modules you’ll attend monthly supervision to integrate practice, ask questions, and receive feedback. Expect a blend of in-person and online sessions depending on the schedule; where offered, distance learners join via Zoom. Many sessions run on selected Saturdays, typically 08:30–12:30.

Typical requirements

  • Personal practice and reflective journals
  • Private mentor sessions after training blocks
  • Compulsory supervision days
  • Peer practice / swap sessions
  • Case studies: individual (Modules 1–2) and group (Module 3)
  • Ethics, scope of practice, and referral pathways

Practicals

  • Venues & format: Johannesburg (Kyalami) with a Cape Town option for certain components; some sessions online
  • Certification & CPD: International TRE® Provider certification via Dr David Berceli (US)
  • Registration fee: US$15
  • CPD points: may be available — see current info pack
  • Dates & fees: vary by intake — use the current info pack

What you’ll come away with

  • A grounded, personal TRE® practice and the capacity to self-regulate during tremors
  • Clear understanding of the body-brain stress response and how TRE® supports down-regulation
  • Skills to structure sessions, pace safely, and recognise when to pause or refer
  • Confidence to teach individuals (Module 2) and facilitate small groups (Module 3)
  • Trauma-informed communication and containment tools clients can use between sessions
  • Documentation habits: notes, supervision logs, and ethical record-keeping

Become a TRE® Provider

To become a TRE® Provider (facilitator), you must complete 3 modules over 8 to 12 months. This is practical training for working with individuals and groups while also experiencing the benefits personally. Between sessions, you will complete peer sessions, case studies, and your own personal process.

You will find the Information Document, Application Form, and Client Indemnity Form linked below. Our training is 8 months long, and all modules must be completed for full certification. A team of experienced facilitators and I will support and guide you throughout this process. The training is offered as a hybrid of in-person and online learning. All sessions are recorded and made available via Google Drive.

I limit classes to 16–18 trainees to ensure a more supported and embodied learning experience. All requirements are listed below, and you are welcome to contact me should you have any questions. Two payment options are available: Full EFT payment or Deposit + Monthly Payments.

CPD points are awarded for HPCSA (36 points across all 3 modules), and equivalent hours are available for other professional associations.

Module 1 – Personal Practice
Module 2 – Working with Individuals
Module 3 – Working with Groups & Interventions (Body/Fascia Work)

Please reach out if you have any questions.
